Remarks on Global Existence and Blowup for Damped Nonlinear Schrödinger Equations

We consider the Cauchy problem for the damped nonlinear Schrödinger equations, and prove some blowup and global existence results which depend on the size of the damping coefficient. We also discuss the L concentration phenomenon of blowup solutions in the critical case.

Critical Nonlinear Schrödinger Equations with and without Harmonic Potential

Abstract. We exhibit a change of variables that turns the critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation into the critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation with isotropic harmonic potential, in any space dimension. This change of variables is isometric on L, and bijective on some time intervals. Using the known results for the critical nonlinear Schrödinger equation, this provides information for the pr...

Mass Concentration Phenomenon for the Quintic Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation in 1d

We consider the L-critical quintic focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) on R. It is well known that H solutions of the aforementioned equation blow-up in finite time. In higher dimensions, for H spherically symmetric blow-up solutions of the L-critical focusing NLS, there is a minimal amount of concentration of the L-norm (the mass of the ground state) at the origin. In this paper we p...

On the blow up phenomenon for the L critical nonlinear Schrödinger Equation

with u0 ∈ H1 = {u,∇u ∈ L2(RN )} in dimension N ≥ 1. This equation for N = 2 appears in physics as a universal model to describe self trapping of waves propagating in nonlinear media. The physical expectation for large smooth data is the concentration of part of the L2 mass in finite time corresponding to the focusing of the laser beam. If some explicit examples of this phenomenon are known, and...

Cascade of Phase Shifts for Nonlinear Schrödinger Equations

We consider a semi-classical nonlinear Schrödinger equation. For initial data causing focusing at one point in the linear case, we study a nonlinearity which is super-critical in terms of asymptotic effects near the caustic. We prove the existence of infinitely many phase shifts appearing at the approach of the critical time. This phenomenon is suggested by a formal computation. The rigorous pr...
